Certainly! Here’s an easy recipe for Crispy Fried Chicken just like restaurants with secret recipes (You know what I mean 😅)
Ingredients:
- 2 pounds (900g) of chicken pieces (drumsticks, thighs, wings, or breasts)
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for added heat)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions:
  Marination:
- Place the chicken pieces in a large bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Make sure the chicken is fully submerged in the buttermilk.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight if possible). The buttermilk helps tenderize the chicken and adds flavor.
- In a shallow dish or large Ziploc bag, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using). Mix well to distribute the spices evenly.
- Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing any excess buttermilk to drip off.
Frying:
- Dip each chicken piece into the flour mixture, coating it on all sides. Press the flour onto the chicken to ensure good coverage. Place the coated chicken on a wire rack or baking sheet and let it rest for about 10 minutes. This allows the coating to adhere to the chicken and helps create a crispier crust.
- Meanwhile, heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or skillet to a temperature of 350°F (175°C). The oil should be deep enough to fully submerge the chicken pieces.
- Carefully place a few chicken pieces into the hot oil, being cautious not to overcrowd the pot. Fry the chicken in batches to maintain the oil temperature and ensure even cooking.
- Fry the chicken for about 12-15 minutes, flipping the pieces halfway through until golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F (75°C).
Serving:
- Once cooked, transfer the fried chicken to a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
- Repeat the frying process with the remaining chicken pieces.
- Serve the crispy fried chicken hot and enjoy! It pairs well with mashed potatoes, coleslaw, cornbread, or your favorite side dishes.
Note: Take caution when working with hot oil to prevent any accidents. Make sure the chicken is cooked through and reaches a safe internal temperature.
