The Perfect Halal Beef Biryani Recipe
Biryani is a popular and flavorful dish that originated in the Indian subcontinent. It is a one-pot rice dish that is packed with aromatic spices, tender meat, and fragrant basmati rice. Ingredients:
- 500g halal beef, cut into pieces
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh coriander leaves
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint leaves
- 4 cups water
- 4 tablespoons ghee or oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions:
- Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large pot, heat the ghee or oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until golden brown.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pot and sauté for a minute.
- Add the beef pieces to the pot and cook until they are browned on all sides.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes, green chilies, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, cumin powder, and coriander powder. Cook for a few minutes until the tomatoes are soft.
- Whisk the yogurt in a bowl and add it to the pot. Mix well to combine.
- Add the soaked rice to the pot and gently stir to coat the rice with the spices.
- Pour in the water and season with salt. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.
- Cook the biryani on low heat for about 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the beef is cooked through.
- Once cooked, remove the pot from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 10 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with chopped fresh coriander and mint leaves.
